I am an Australian writer focused on seeking and encountering God and understanding the complexity of the human heart and mind.

You’re unlikely to find happy clappy, saccharine, cookie-cutter contemplations here. I don’t write for the picture-perfect crowd, but for the reader who searches for like-hearted thinkers, driven to dig deep, open wounds, find treasures through experience and live a life that might be raw, will be real.

Miriam E Miles

As a late-diagnosed Autistic, my journey has included battling complex mental illness and crippling self-doubt as well as moments of revelation and triumph, all of which I hope to share through my work.

Phoenix: an abstract autobiography, is a collection focused on the real intersection between mental illness, spirituality, and healing and is now available in eBook and paperback.

There are many things about me that matter to me but most importantly, my faith, my family and my sense of purpose are what drive me to be a person I can be proud of.

When not writing, you might find me at the piano, in a coffee shop, or wandering down some obscure laneway snapping pics as I go.

About Phoenix

Phoenix is an abstract poetic exploration of acknowledgment, facing the hard stuff, and finding healing. Each poem reveals a portion of the road travelled and is a transparent and sincere study of a mind fighting its way free from illness, grabbing hold of spiritual hope, and setting itself free.

Poems from the Collection

This collection is focused on the real intersection between mental illness and connecting with spirituality and healing, giving me an opportunity to open up the conversation about the power of God that undergirds my personal journey from illness to wellness.
