Heat

It’s not my fault, she implores as

she flings herself across the tinder

licking up the final drips of moisture,

crying over every molecule ignited by her rage as

her heart burns the land,

leaving a sepia stain on the sky.

I didn’t want to do this, she screams

as her fingers instinctively flick smoke across the sky;

I’m so sorry, she sobs

as she implores whatever drips she can

from heaven whilst

encouraging a frightened humanity to douse her fury.

At last, she cries, as heaven breaks open,

coming alongside it’s people,

her final flames dying to embers

her heart cooling as she hurriedly accepts

the rains from man’s hands

and slips away,

grieving yet again at being abused by those who will never understand.
